The Dukan Diet is a great way to lose weight and do it in a healthy manner.  It seems that many diets these days are too difficult on the body, and are only a short term solution.  If the weight is not lost in a healthy and sustainable manner, then it is more than likely going to return.  This new diet is an exception, because it is all about losing the weight in a healthy way.

Dr. Pierre Dukan, a French doctor, created the diet after he spent the better part of his career helping people lose weight.  His diet is great, because it is not about following strict rules or guidelines.  You can eat as much as you want, just as long as you eat the right things that your body needs.

The Dukan Diet:  4 Phases

The diet is broken down into 4 phases, and each one plays an important role in effective weight loss.

Phase 1:  The Attack Phase

During this part of the diet, you set your goals and see where you stand.  Then it is off to the races, as you eat as much lean protein over the next 7 days, along with oats.  This helps you start shedding the weight quickly and it gives your body a chance to detox and turn the fat into muscle.

Phase 2:  The Cruise Phase

During this part of the diet, you alternate between lean protein and vegetables every other day.  This helps you reach your target weight that you are shooting for.

Phase 3: The Consolidation Phase

During this phase of the Dukan Diet, you eat lean protein and vegetables every day.  You can also start eating bread and cheese again.  You will stay on this part of the diet for 5 days per pound lost.  You can also cheat up to 2 meals a week with whatever you want to eat.

Phase 4: The Stabilization Phase

This is the last and final stage of the Dukan Diet and in it you return to your normal eating pattern, so long as you do not put the weight back on.  Also, one day a week, you are to eat only lean protein.

This is the basics of the highly successful Dukan Diet, which can help just about anyone lose weight, so long as they follow the diet correctly.  This diet is simple enough and gets the job done, in a manner that does not feel like torture.  This is the way to go about dieting if you do not want to give up too much.
